Cities’ rapid growth and expansion have led to the emergence of new technologies and methods for illuminating urban environments at night. The goal of lighting design has evolved beyond ensuring safety and recognition, to transforming architecture and infrastructure into iconic landmarks that attract people. This global trend is evident in numerous lighting initiatives that incorporate technology and interactivity into their designs. However, interactivity in urban illumination goes beyond merely highlighting structures. Light has the power to engage individuals in a more interactive way, eliciting emotions, establishing diverse atmospheres, and influencing human experiences. This paper aims to investigate the potential of light as a medium for enriching urban spaces and fostering meaningful connections between individuals and their surroundings. It will achieve this by examining various case studies and analyzing the impact of interactive lighting. By exploring interactive lighting, we can create dynamic and immersive experiences that go beyond the conventional boundaries of architectural design.en_US
