| dc.description | Society and culture related to the structure of sexuality carry several roles, including gender stereotypes that are closely related to appearance, especially the stigma against men in feminine clothing, which is still strong and seems to deviate from cultural norms. However, the wider cultural shift gives more freedom in life, one of which is contemporary fashion as a form of self-expression that is not bound by gender identity. In recent years, new and significant changes have been seen in contemporary menswear in the development of men's personal tastes and dress expressions, experimenting with incorporating traditional feminine design elements as forms of style expression, particularly in pop culture. This phenomenon is interpreted as "gender-fluid" fashion. The design uses a qualitative methodology based on the Design Thinking model by obtaining data through observation and in depth interviews with expert resource groups and consumers. Each case and indicator incorporate feminine design elements as part of contemporary menswear. The implementation of the design resulted in a collection of gender-fluid in men’s fashion with avant-garde style to challenge the stereotypes of traditional menswear and masculinity with highly innovative silhouettes and feminine design elements from structural or decorative detailing to colors, fabrics, and fabric manipulation. Design results from applying the concept of gender-fluid trends are able to answer social problems such as freedom of expression, self-confidence, creativity in dressing, and challenging traditional ideas of gender and fashion without eliminating the relationship between the two but by creating a more multidimensional perception. Especially for Gen Z and Millennials as an open generation and buying behaviors that are materialistic and instantaneous in accordance with the targets of an economically sustainable rental and sales business. The design is expressed through a fluid and expressive high-fashion aesthetic. | en_US |
