| dc.description | Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a vector-borne disease that has become a burden for Indonesia. DHF is caused by the dengue virus, which is carried by the Aedes mosquito that lives close to humans. Chemical control methods are to use organophosphates and physical control methods to eradicate mosquito nests are considered less effective so that biological vector control is needed as an additional alternative to control the spread of DHF. The purpose of this paper is to examine the potential of the Clarias genus as a vector controller for Aedes. The results showed that the predation ability of Clarias gariepenus was 80.3% greater on average than Cyprinus carpio, Ctenopharyngodon idella, and Oreochromis niloticus. The predation ability of Clarias batrachus was 79.6% greater than Anabas testudineus, Oreochromis niloticus, and Poecilia reticulata. Clarias gariepenus and Clarias alluadi are proven to have a high predation ability of mosquito larvae. Clarias fuscus has been tested in the field and has a statistically significant impact in reducing the density of Ae. aegypti larvae. Based on analysis results, the Clarias genus is a potent biological vector control and further experimental research on the predation power of the Clarias genus against Aedes larvae is still needed. The use of the Clarias genus is recommended to prevent the incidence of DHF in Indonesia. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) merupakan salah satu penyakit tular vektor yang menjadi beban bagi Indonesia. DBD disebabkan oleh virus dengue yang dibawa oleh nyamuk Aedes yang memiliki habitat dekat dengan manusia. Metode pengendalian kimia menggunakan organofosfat dan metode pengendalian fisik dengan memberantas sarang nyamuk dinilai kurang efektif sehingga pengendali vektor secara biologi dibutuhkan sebagai alternatif tambahan untuk mengendalikan penyebaran DBD. Tujuan penulisan ini untuk mengkaji potensi genus Clarias sebagai pengendali vektor Aedes. Hasil kajian menunjukkan kemampuan predasi Clarias gariepenus dengan rata-rata 80,3% lebih besar dibanding Cyprinus carpio, Ctenopharyngodon idella, dan Oreochromis niloticus. Kemampuan predasi Clarias batrachus memperoleh rata-rata 79,6% lebih besar dibanding Anabas testudineus, Oreochromis niloticus, dan Poecilia reticulata. Clarias gariepenus dan Clarias alluadi terbukti memiliki kemampuan predasi yang tinggi terhadap larva nyamuk. Clarias fuscus telah diuji di lapangan dan secara statistik memberikan dampak signifikan dalam mengurangi kepadatan larva nyamuk Ae. aegypti. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, genus Clarias merupakan pengendali vektor secara biologi yang poten, namun penelitian eksperimental lebih lanjut mengenai daya predasi genus Clarias terhadap larva nyamuk Aedes masih diperlukan. Penggunaan genus Clarias disarankan untuk mencegah kejadian penyakit DBD di Indonesia. | en_US |
