| dc.description | Large and nice hotels with luxurious facilities can be found in big cities such as Surabaya and many other tourism spots nearby. There are many facilities provided especially for hotels with medium or higher class. Commonly those hotels have rooms with different class as well, such as regular class and executive class. Difference in classes is needed to target different market. In comparison with the room with regular class and executive class in Surabaya mostly have difference in room size and better view as well as more luxury than the regular class. Executive class room should have value added in terms of technology. However, until today mostly there is no major difference in information system between both classes. The information system in executive class still remain the same with the regular classes have. Both classes still use regular phone call and manual control panel system to contact room service if they needed something or looking for some information, hence there are no value added for the information system. In that case the author tries to design and make another creative way for improving the information system using mobile application in a tablet computer running Android operating system for mobile access room service. The Android application runs as front-end which is for the customers. The author will also design a website for the admin operation as the back- end to be used by hotel’s operator. Android operating system provides more superior features in terms of ease of use, advanced technology, and also being used by many company for developing tablet computer. The main objective for this project expected to produce room service application using Android operating system to replace manual control panel as well as adding value for executive class hotel room. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Hotel megah dan berbintang dengan fasilitas yang mewah banyak ditemui di daerah kota Surabaya dan daerah wisata ternama di sekitarnya. Banyak sekali fasilitas yang disediakan khususnya oleh hotel kelas menengah dan kelas menengah ke atas. Setiap hotel tersebut umumnya memiliki kamar dengan perbedaan kelas seperti kelas reguler dan kelas eksekutif yang ditujukan bagi target pasar yang berbeda. Kamar kelas eksekutif di Surabaya pada umumnya hanya memiliki kelebihan di fasilitas ruangan kamar yang lebih besar dan desain interior yang lebih mewah dibandingkan kelas reguler. Kamar kelas eksekutif seharusnya memiliki nilai lebih dari sisi teknologi. Namun hingga kini, panel untuk room service yang dimiliki kamar kelas eksekutif kebanyakan masih sama seperti yang dimiliki kamar kelas reguler. Kamar eksekutif masih menggunakan telepon biasa dan panel kontrol manual apabila membutuhkan sesuatu atau ingin mencari suatu informasi sehingga tidak ada nilai tambah untuk sistem informasinya. Untuk itu peneliti ingin membuat aplikasi room service untuk menggantikan panel room service manual dengan mobile application di perangkat tablet komputer dengan sistem operasi Android sebagai sisi front-end . Dari sisi back-end peneliti membuat aplikasi berbasis web untuk operasional pihak hotel. Sistem operasi Android menyediakan fitur-fitur yang unggul dalam hal kecanggihan, kemudahan, dan telah digunakan oleh banyak perusahaan pembuat perangkat komputer tablet . Tujuan dari tugas akhir ini diharapkan dapat me nghasilkan aplikasi room service berbasis Android untuk menggantikan panel kontrol manual serta memberi nilai tambah kamar kelas eksekutif. | en_US |
