UPDATED MANAGEMENT AND TREATMENT OF HYPERTENSION 2025
Abstract
Background:
Hypertension continues to pose a significant global public health burden and remains one
of the most important modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Its prevalence is
increasing worldwide, including in Indonesia, leading to substantial rates of premature
illness and death. Ongoing advancements in clinical research necessitate regular revisions
of diagnostic criteria and therapeutic approaches.
Methods:
This narrative review outlines current strategies for hypertension management based on
international clinical practice guidelines published in 2025. The review addresses blood
pressure classification, cardiovascular risk assessment, individualized treatment targets,
lifestyle modification, and pharmacological therapy.
Results: Adherence to guideline-based hypertension management has been shown to improve blood pressure control and decrease long-term cardiovascular complications. Individualized and multidisciplinary care models further enhance treatment outcomes.
Conclusion: A comprehensive, patient-centered approach to hypertension management that aligns with the 2025 international guidelines is essential for reducing cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
