The Teenagers’ Lifestyle of Popular Culture Fans
Abstract
During the period of identity formation, teenagers are looking for role
model as their references. Those references may come from the involvement as
certain popular culture fans. Several activities can be done for admiring the celebrity
and consuming the popular culture products. The aim of this research is describing
the teenagers’ lifestyle of popular culture fans. The subjects were 16–18 years old
teenagers as the certain popular culture fans (N = 137). It was found that most of the
subjects are Experiencers, Believers, and Survivors. It means that their involvement
in fandom and related activities are motivated by self-expression and ideals.
