PERAN LEADERSHIP UNTUK MENGEMBANGKAN START-UP BUSINESS
Abstract
Opuxan is a start-up business company which has been engaged in food and
beverage with Teh Teras and Café Teras as its product. The company experienced several
variations of products changing from tea bags, bottled tea, and then tea leaves wrapped in
aluminum foil. Opuxan company also made several additional business to improve finance in
company like try to enter the business of Tour and Travel and cafe business. The cafe business
went for two weeks, but there was an accident against the CEO so all the operational in the
cafe began to stop. The CEO had internal constraints so he was not allowed to open the cafe in
the place of the accident, so the other co-workers were exposed with the same internal
problems (not allowed to operate there) due to the incident made the café close and the
company suffers losses. This shows that the development of this business cannot be separated
from the role of a CEO who is the leader of the company, but the problem is that the leadership
style makes the company cannot go to the next corporate lifecycle. The purpose of this study
was to know the role of leadership in developing start-up business and the leadership model ran
in Opuxan Company. The method used was descriptive qualitative method by using semi
structured interview method. The validity and reliability of the data were tested using source
triangulation. The results showed that the role of leader was as operational and strategy
designer and leadership model used by Opuxan Company based on PAIE management style
was performing as well as little entrepreneuring and integrating
