dc.description | One division that is almost always present in any company is the sales
division. Employees who work in the division are called sales person. They are
one of the important keys of the smooth running of a company. In his work, a sales
person has a lot of challenges that arise both from inside and outside the
individual. The challenges that occur continuously can lead to individuals
experiencing stress at work. In these conditions, those individuals are expected to
have the confidence to be able to reduce, avoid, and manage the stress that
occurs, which are called the Stress Management Self-Efficacy. One of the factors
that are related to the level of Stress Management Self-Efficacy is an individual
personality factor which is extraversion.
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between
extraversion personality factor and stress management self-efficacy on sales
persons in West Surabaya. This study is using quantitative research methods with
a correlational design. To collect the data, extraversion personality scales and
stress management self-efficacy scales are used. The subject in this study is the
sales person in West Surabaya both men and women, with at least 3 months
internship in sales division. The number of samples in this study were 100 people.
The sampling technique used in this study is incidental sampling. The results were
analyzed using Pearson Product Moment with the help of computerized R.2.11.0
program.
The result showed a positive relationship between extraversion personality
and stress management self-efficacy of the sales person in West Surabaya with a
moderate degree of correlation (Bungin, 2001) (r = 0.39, p - value<0,05).
Extraversion personality factor effectively contribute to stress management selfefficacy (SMSE) subjects amounted to 15.33%. Therefore, it can be concluded that
the more extroverted, the higher level of a person's self-efficacy of stress
management. On the contrary, the more introvert a person is, the lower level of a
person's self-efficacy of stress management. Due to the moderate level of
correlation, the researcher suspected that there are other factors also influencing
the individual’s SMSE, such as: gender, marital status, participation in an
association or organization, and duration of work, which in this study these topics
have not been deeply described. The researcher hopes that it can be developed in
future studies.
Looking at the relationship between extraversion personality and SMSE,
the researcher suggest the sales person to take notice and improve variables
related to stress management self-efficacy. As for the companies, researcher
advise to pay more attention to the things that becomes an input and
consideration in the development of stress management self-efficacy sales person. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Salah satu divisi yang hampir selalu ada dalam sebuah perusahaan adalah
divisi penjualan. Karyawan yang bekerja dalam divisi itu disebut sales person.
Sales person merupakan salah satu kunci dan aset penting dari kesuksesan dan
kelancaran sebuah perusahaan. Dalam pekerjaannya, sales person memiliki
banyak tantangan yang muncul baik dari dalam maupun dari luar diri individu.
Tantangan-tantangan yang muncul dan terjadi secara terus menerus dapat
mengakibatkan individu mengalami stress dalam pekerjaannya. Dalam kondisi
tersebut individu diharapkan memiliki keyakinan diri untuk mampu dalam
mengurangi, menghindari, dan mengelola stres yang terjadi. Hal itu disebut juga
dengan stress management self-efficacy. Salah satu faktor yang diduga
berhubungan dengan tingkat stress management self-efficacy individu adalah
faktor kepribadian extraversion.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara
kepribadian extraversion dan stress management self-efficacy pada sales person di
Surabaya Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan
desain korelasional. Alat pengumpul data pada penelitian ini berupa kuesioner
skala kepribadian extraversion dan skala stress management self-efficacy. Subyek
penelitian adalah sales person di Surabaya Barat baik pria maupun wanita dan
minimal sudah melewati masa percobaan kerja selama 3 bulan. Jumlah sampel
pada penelitian ini adalah 100 orang. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan
adalah incidental sampling. Hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan
Pearson Product Moment dengan bantuan komputerisasi program R.2.11.0.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif antara kepribadian
extraversion dan stress management self-efficacy pada sales person di Surabaya
Barat dengan tingkat korelasi sedang (Bungin, 2001) (r = 0,39; p-value < 0,05).
Sumbangan efektif kepribadian extraversion terhadap stress management selfefficacy subyek adalah sebesar 15,33%. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa
semakin ekstrovert, maka semakin tinggi pula stress management self-efficacy
seseorang. Sebaliknya semakin introvert, maka semakin rendah stress
management self-efficacy seseorang. Akibat tingkat korelasi yang sedang, maka
peneliti menduga adanya faktor lain yang turut mempengaruhi SMSE individu,
antara lain: jenis kelamin, status pernikahan, keikutsertaan dalam suatu
perkumpulan atau organisasi, dan lama bekerja, dimana pada penelitian ini topiktopik tersebut belum dijelaskan secara mendalam sehingga dapat dikembangkan
dalam penelitian selanjutnya.
Melihat adanya hubungan positif antara kepribadian extraversion dan
SMSE, maka peneliti menyarankan pada sales person untuk memperhatikan dan
meningkatkan variabel-variabel yang berkaitan dengan stress management selfefficacy. Sedangkan untuk perusahaan, peneliti menyarankan untuk lebih
memperhatikan hal-hal yang menjadi bahan masukan dan pertimbangan dalam
melakukan pengembangan stress management self-efficacy pada sales person. | en_US |
