    Abstract
The upcycling process has become one of the alternative approaches in sustainable fashion practices. Upcycling allows the life cycle of a garment to be renewed and it greatly helps reduce the negative impact on the environment. With upcycling, the quality of a garment is improved, so that the quality of the garment is not inferior to the quality of a new garment, even if properly processed, through a rigorous research process, the quality of the upcycling garment waste allows better than the normal garment. One of the most potential ingredients for upcycling is waste banner left over from major events that are no longer in use. So far, banner waste has only been downcycled by being used as a base, so that the quality of the garment has dropped and the aesthetic value is also absent. From the research conducted by the author, modular interlocking technique is a very unique technique explored to be applied to garments, especially banner waste. Its efficient, can be assembled and has aesthetics in texture, color composition and shape that can be explored, this technique is the technique of choice used in this study. Implementation of the most suitable fashion by using banner waste and modular interlocking techniques, is a bag. From the research that has been conducted by researchers, bags become one of the essential needs of women today, because the role of a bag is not only decorative as a complement to the appearance, but the role of a bag is also functional in terms of carrying goods carried everyday. From this background, the aim of this research is to create a medium sized bag accessories that can be used everyday, use banner waste upcycling, using modular interlocking techniques, and utilize the principles of color gradation and harmony design aimed at women aged 22 - 30 years . The research method was carried out quantitatively and qualitatively, quantitatively by conducting online surveys of 100 people, and qualitatively by expert interviews, extreme users and typology studies. The design results of this study are 10 bag designs using 2 types of modular interlocking and each design has a unique color gradation.
