| dc.description.abstract | Complementary-Alternative Medicine (CAM) is one of the health care systems that are not presently
considered to be part of conventional medicine. Globally, up to now the use of this method is still being
developed and continues to increase. One of CAM type that more popular is music therapy. Music
therapy is a form of therapy by using music as a medium of therapy that aims to maintain, repair, and
optimize physical, psychological, spiritual, cognitive, and social needs of the individual that performed by
professionals through systematic assessment and plan of care. This study aims to compare knowledge and
attitude toward the music therapy between psychologists and physicians in Surabaya. The instrument that
used was modified from a previous study, which is Psychologists Attitudes towards Complementary and
Alternative Therapies (PATCAT) Questionnaire. In general, data from 19 respondents, with average age
is 44 years old, showed that knowledge level about music therapy of psychologists was higher (mean =
5,5) than physicians (mean = 4,6). Psychologists’ attitude towards music therapy also was more positive
(mean = 39,4) compare with physicians’ attitude (mean = 35,8). However from Mann-Whitney U test
found that those differences did not significant (U = 17, p>0,05; U = 26, p>0,05). Level of music
therapy knowledge among psychologists and physicians was correlated positively with attitude toward
music therapy (r = 0,25). But that correlation did not significantly proofed when tested with Spearman’s
rho test (p>0,05). Discussion of the results can be viewed in this article. | en_US |
