PT. Karunia Kreatif Mandiri is a furniture manufacturer which produces shelves from particle board. As a furniture manufacturer, the company expects optimal performance from the employees in order to effectively receive orders and complete them on time. PT Karunia Kreatif Mandiri consider that employee performance is not optimal, thus leads to customer complaints. Employee performance is not optimal probably caused by some employee’s needs are not Therefore, PT. Karunia Kreatif Mandiri needs to review the factors that affect employee performance, such as motivation. Hence, the purpose of this study is to determine the motivation level of PT. Karunia Kreatif Mandiri's employees. This research uses a qualitative approach, using descriptive analysis to get complete illustration from the informants about their motivations. The primary research data are taken from semi-structured interviews with the informants, while the secondary data are obtained using documentation technique. The data analysis process in this research is divided into data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The five informants used in this study are four production employees and the head of production of PT. Karunia Kreatif Mandiri. The purpose of the informant selection is to understand the views of old and new employees regarding the work motivation of PT. Karunia Kreatif Mandiri's employees. Research results indicate that motivations related to physiological, safety, social and esteem needs are good enough, while self-actualization are still limited. PT. Karunia Kreatif Mandiri needs to make some efforts to improve the employees' motivation. Special highlights should be given to new employee wage and the provision of insurance and healthcare.
